The P75 should be fine for what it sounds like your son
plans on using it for. I had a TP360PE with a 486-50,
which I upgraded to a 586-133. The 586 is supposed to be
performance-wise equivalent to a P75. While the 486-50 was
fine for running Office 95, Netscape 3.0, Telnet, etc. it
did get a little slow running some games and newer
software. Now it runs Office quite a bit more briskly, and
I can run Netscape 4.0 (or is it 4.5? I know it's not
bloated 4.7) with no problems. It also has a nice plus of
being able to handle Real Player G2 (at least audio) which
the old processor couldn't even get to play the start-up
screen, as well as play MP3 files with WinPlay3.
One thing to be sure of: Get at least 32MB of RAM if the
machine doesn't already have it. It will make a big
difference with multitasking and browsing.
Cheers.
