I upgraded my 760E thin model to a 6.4GB hard drive a couple of years
ago.

I used an IBM TravelStar drive that I bought from Egghead/OnSale for
just over $200.

You need a drive no thicker than 12.5mm. The 17mm thick hard drives
will not fit in the "thin" models of the 760 series.

I used an Apricorn PCMCIA card and Apricorn software that I had from
a previous hard drive installation to format and partition the drive
and transfer the operating system and all applications programs and
data files to the new hard drive.

I then put the drive in my existing caddy and installed it in the
760E. The drives has worked flawlessly.

At first I didn't know what to do with all the space, I had just
tripled my hard disk capacity. Now, of course, the drive is nearly
full. There's a sort of Parkinson's law of disk capacity.
