I have installed RedHat 6.2 on my 600X.
You are indeed stuck to using 640x480 during the installation.
It won't take so very long.
However, you should be aware of the video expansion key (Fn-F8).
Use it to expand text or graphics to use almost the entire screen.
On my 600X, X Window System will not start if video expansion
is enabled. Just press Fn-F8 and try again.
