There are two Ultraslimbay DVD drives, the 2X and the 6X. Both of them work
in a 600. (I've used them both.)
You're right, a straight 600 will not be fast enough for good DVD movie
playback unless you get a Margi card or equivalent, but it will be fine for
reading data DVDs.
