You might check the memory, using (for example) the 'docmemory' ram tester from
http://www.simmtester.com
Microsoft has a habit of writing code that is sensitive to things like fine
timing control of chips; that is why W95 OSR2
needed a patch to run on AMD K6/2 chips over 350 mhz
