I think you've had some really weird internal timing problem. That the ram
passed a test doesn't surprise me--most tests look for holes in memory,
but can't find the really flakey stuff. Assmuming that your memory is in
fact the correct type (which is likely is), I'd bet that there is just
something
about that ram and your computer.
I have a user with an i1720 ThinkPad which refused its 64M upgrade I got
for it. That memory worked in my i1451 and ultimately I got that ram. It
just would not work in that i1720. Weird, but it happens.
