Checking on IBM's support site, I find these differences between
your 26454AU and my 26455FU:
600E 600X
66MHz 100MHz System bus speed
256AV 256ZX Video controller
2.5MB 4MB Video memory
1x 2x Video AGP standard
PIIX4E PIIX4M EIDE/ISA/USB controller
1251 1450 CardBus controller
Mwave Lucent Modem
4239 4624 Sound
These are the differences I could find using the tbook and twbook
files. It's easy to believe there are more differences that wouldn't
be important unless you want to upgrade your CPU.
Maybe that will help you. I think you'll be lucky to keep all the
chips running at 100MHz, myself. The BIOS for the 600X may not be
able to deal with the PIIX4 or CardBus chips.
As for your error, it's not in my 600X manual either.
