Hi
I am newbie to this list, so please pardon the ignorance. I just got a
Thinkpad 760E (9546-U9B). With 48MB RAM (8+8+16+16), UltraBay CDROM and
FDD. Putting Linux on it was a breeze! Used up ~300MB of the 2GB disk for
the system software, which leaves me plenty of space to fool around with.
It's a great little computer for class-use.
I was wondering about the upgrade options for the memory on this laptop.
Does the chipset support SDRAM ? The IBM support site suggests only
EDO-DRAM - but that's much more expensive than SDRAM. Also, has anyone
succeeded in cheating with 128MB EDO SODIMM's in slot 2 instead of the
64MB max as stated on the IBM web-site ? How about 128MB SDRAM SODIMM's ?
Also, since you know I am interested in a memory upgrade, does anyone have
>32MB chips for sale ?
Thanks in advance for any tips/advice -
cheers -
pradeep
