Brief and subjective reaction, comparing 770ED to 600X:
The 600X is way faster (mine was 500MHz, vs. 266MHz 770ED), ridiculously light and compact, and ran Win98 surprisingly stably. The 600X video was so-so, the sound was fine, the features were fine. And you can absolutely get a DVD for it.
Overall I loved the 600X as compared to the 770ED. For the price of a slightly smaller screen, less video RAM, slightly inferior power savings, and no hot-swapping of devices, I got a very powerful, very portable machine that I just loved.
I have no idea how Win2000 runs on either, nor have I touched a 770X, nor do I have a clue what the prices on these things are these days. I'd be pleasantly surprised if a good 600 were available for $900.
