Yes, the 600E will take both the 2X and 6X internal DVD in the Ultrabay and is
the minimum setup to watch DVDs without having to install a Margi card. A
PII/266 600 can't run a DVD well without hardware help while the PII/300 600E
will show a DVD just fine with software decode only.

All 600Es are Pentium II machines, from 300MHz to 400MHz. Some of the early 600s
were Pentium 266MMX machines, specifically the 2645-21U (which has a 13" HPA
display) and the 2645-31U (which has a 12.1" TFT display), both of which should
be avoided. All other 600s were PII/266 to PII/300.

All 770X are PII/300, all 770Z are PII/366. I would say that prices for
similarly equipped 770s and 600s are running neck and neck on eBay, with the
late model 600Es having a slight edge.

See above.

Nope. The 770X and 770Z factory installed HDs were 17MM high, not the 12.5MM
slim drives required for the 600 series.

I've recently been down this road trying to decide between a 600E and 770Z and,
while the 14.1" screen of the 770 was attractive, the more than 3lb weight
difference and the overall size difference between the two systems quickly made
the lighter, slimmer 600E stand out.

James
