Old 370c floppy problem

Hi,

Got at Thinkpad 370c for several years. After we had a look at the
memorycard the floppydrive does not work any more?

No sound or any other indications from the floppydrive. The
floppyligth on the thinkpad itself are constant for sometime. In the
bios the floppy 1 is grey and I cannot start a selftest.

Any clues?

Could I buy a externel pccard floppydrive (if any exist) so I could
boot using a floppy and start transfer data using floppydisk again.
