Just my $.02 on this subject:

I have had a 770ED, 770X, 770Z, 600e, and 600x in the past two years to
compare.

I think the 770 series, like Bill Morrow has said, is the Rolls Royce of the
IBM line in terms of build quality. That being said, the 600 series has the
same quality, but not quite a sturdy - due to the size limiations of the
design.

The main thing you will notice when comparing a 770 to a 600 is the screen
thickness. A 770 has a frame around the screen that's about 3/4 of an inch.
The 600 is probably less than 1/2 inch. Other than that, the two seem built
about the same. I do like the 770 keyboard better than the 600, but it's
like comparing a BMW to a Mercedes - mostly just personal taste.

The only other thing I liked about the 770 compared to the 600 was the feet
on the back on the 770 that gave the machine a nice angle when sitting on a
table.

All that being said, both machines are heads and shoulders above a Dell
Latitude, Inspiron, and any Toshiba I have seen. They also seem to be a
slighly better built machine than the A or T series machines.

There were a couple of TP600E models with PII-300. See the twbook.pdf file
listed below for details.

Right, three years on all of them, unless it was an IBM refurb which had a
one year warrant.

Not like the 760 at all. The 600 has a very good, rugged keyboard.

I had a PII-400 TP600E for a while, and I didn't find its DVD playback to be
satisfactory. As I recall, it dropped frames quite often. It would probably
be fine with a Margi card, but I didn't try it.

Time for you to do some homework. <g> Here's a list of the various TBOOK
files that have all the specifications you're looking for:

ThinkPad A, T, and X series:
ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pcicrse/psref/tabook.pdf

ThinkPad I series (current models):
ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pcicrse/psref/tibook.pdf

ThinkPad I series (withdrawn models):
ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pcicrse/psref/tiwbook.pdf

ThinkPad numeric series (current models):
ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pcicrse/psref/tbook.pdf

ThinkPad numeric series (withdrawn models):
ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pcicrse/psref/twbook.pdf

That last file is the one you want for the 600 and 770, but I listed the
rest for completeness.

You'll need Acrobat Reader to view these files:
