There is often a problem at the layer change part of the disk with any
drive/player.
The AMD K62-400 is not powerful enough to software-decode DVD *except* with an
ATI video
card and Cinemaster-based software (like ATI player). DVD drives themselves
are rarely the cause
of frame loss, as the 1x speed of the movie is not a big load. However, the
bus can be a problem
(i.e., DVD is slave to a slow disk, or DMA is not on).
Special to Paul: pony up the $50 for the new AMD K6-III+ 450 processor (if
your MB can handle it),
this will speed up your desktop by almost 50%.
