It is a US machine as far as I know.

It was a special build for one of the large accounting firms, Price
Waterhouse Coopers I think.

There must have been a number of surplus machines. PC Connection had
them last January when I bought mine.

The configuration is:

Pentium II processor (366MHz, I think but fast enough to do the job
in any case.)

128MB memory

10GB hard drive

DVD drive

No internal modem (It's disabled and there's a plastic plug where the
RJ-11 plug would normally be.)

I bought it primarily for the large screen (larger than my 560X) and
10GB hard drive (not generally available on systems at that time.)

I've used the DVD to watch movies on the 600E but have never used the
video out. I have hooked up the sound out to a stereo system.

I've also purchased a couple of the secondary batteries that go in
the UltraSlimBay. With the two batteries I get about 5 hours of
uninterrupted use.

One thing I've been amazed about on the ThinkPads is the screen
quality. It just keeps getting better. When I bought my 760E, my
first ThinkPad, I thought the screen quality was great. Then I got
the 560X and the screen quality was even better. The 600E has the
best screen yet.
