As I just mentioned in another thread, I am thinking of using 98lite (
www.98lite.net [not 'com']) to install
W98SE on a TP560X (and maybe a TP560 too). This program can remove 'intrinsic'
components (ie, IE)
from an already - there copy of W98; moreover, when used to control the initial
installation of W98, it can
force a lean install (as low as 60 megs!) without some of the bloat that makes
98 slower than 95.
However, with Thinkpads there are often special considerations for installing
W9x. For example, for W95 OSR2
on my 560X, I had to put some special files from IBM in the setup directory
before the install (else the pcmcia
wouldn't work). So, I'm wondering if anyone on the list has used 98lite, and
what if anything had to be done
for the Thinkpad-specific parts of the install.
Thanks
David R.
