My semi-new T20 (2647-21u) running Win98SE has been giving me
network problems. I've installed the mini-pci combo-NIC card (Xircom)
successfully. Or so I thought.
When I configure the card for TCP/IP, the protocol binds to the card
without any troubles. I can then have a normal networked computer,
it connects and talks to my household LAN, hits the firewall fine,
and then browses the Web.
Here's the funny part. I turn off the T20, go away (like go to sleep).
The next day, the T20 doesn't see the LAN at all. The mini card seems
to be working fine - a solid link light and flashing activity light
when I'm trying a PING for example. No luck at all. Even more,
when I remove the mini-card in the Network Neighborhood properties,
and then reinstall the software, voila. The card comes back alive.
My first guess is that this is a Win98SE feature. Any comments
or hints?
thanks,
Mitchell
