Methinks the cause of Voltaire's problem could be W98's brain-dead FDISK.

Personally, I would never trust W98 to do the partitioning on my drives.
I've always been using OS/2's FDISK and/or W2K.
Having an almost identical unit (560X) and a largish HD (Toshiba 18 GB), I
can confirm size isn't a problem.
