What if your OS crashes / boot record gets messed up and you need to
attempt a recovery from floppy? Or you need to apply the latest BIOS? Or
you want to back up your drive over the network with Ghost?
You can find ThinkPad floppy drives and assorted cables on eBay, for less
than half the above price. View the floppy drive as a long-term
investment, since you will be able to use it together with your next
ThinkPad (it appears several of the newer ThinkPads are sold without one).
