The only real issue is that $30 cable (usually a lot less on eBay - oops, ya'll
don't like eBay) The soldering technique, while elegant, is beyond many folks.
Bending the pins is quick, can be redone close to original straightness at least
once, and is solderless. However, a third technique, mentioned on the list some
time ago, involved a common device - the lowly fingernail clipper. A simple
wedge taken out of the side of the cable also accomplishes the task of opening
the connection. No "hurting" the drive, no soldering proficiency needed, all it
takes is a steady hand. You only need to get one of those traces clipped so
there is some room for error..

Oh boy, three choices, almost to much. Now what will I have for lunch, a bigger
decision right now.
