Put it this way - I can buy an HDD from any of probably 50 different
suppliers, with next day delivery, but the caddies maybe from one or
two sources (in the UK) and the supply is not as plentiful. That's
my motivation for leaving the caddy alone and modding the drive, even
if the drive costs more.

Also I do have a soldering iron, but waiting for it to warm up versus
bending the pins is another factor!

But how is "hurting" a $100 ish HD better than "hurting" a $30?? caddie ?
BTW the caddie is not hurt in this procedure, unless your Real clumsy ;-}
