The drive goes inside the adapter, and the adapter goes inside the 600E's
UltraslimBay. You might get the desktop drive to fit if you ran it through a
crusher first, but that tends to make the drive less reliable.
Otherwise you need a 2.5" notebook drive, up to 12.5mm high--the same kind
of drive that fits in the 600E's main drive bay.

You can get a SCSI card for the 600E, then you can use any desktop SCSI
drive by putting it in an external SCSI case. For performance, be sure to
get a CardBus SCSI card such as the Adaptec 1480A, not a 16-bit PCMCIA card.
I don't know of a solution for using an external IDE drive. (That's not to
say there isn't a way to do it, I just have never heard of one.)
