Let me ask a few more questions: 1. Do you have the problem even when you attempt to start in Safe Mode? 2. What version of Windows do you have? 3. Exactly what steps do you go though to get to the point where it dies? 4. Narrate to me what steps Windows goes through during the boot process (what screens and text display...) If this is a brand-new (to you) PC with nothing to lose on it, then perhaps it would be less stressful to just do a system restore from the recovery CD? Rob
