T20 installing win98 with no floppy drive cable?

Hi everyone, I have a bit of a problem as I would like to install win 98 or Me on my T20 which currently has Win2K on it. The recovery cd's I have are for only NT and 2K and I wasn't supplied with a cable to link the floppy drive externally as I had on my previous 600X. Is there any way of installing either 98 or Me with only the floppy or dvd drive in the bay. I also have an external pcmcia cd re-writer (HP M820e) could I use this and keep the floppy installed to boot from? If I have to I will buy the cable or Win98 recovery cd, any idea where I could obtain one from in the U.K?? Many thanks for reading this.
