Sounds like it's suspending the unit instead. Are you choosing standby, or shutdown
from the shutdown menu?

Right beneath the hard drive on the underside of the unit.
I know you can do up to 80MB on the 760ED, the XL you might be able to use 64MB DIMMS,
which would allow you to go up to 144MB, which is pretty good for that machine.
