I don't know about #1, but that is a good price.
For #2, there is no "spacer" you would need or want. Any height drive up to
12.5mm mounts the exact same way in the HDD adapter.
However, for *any* drive, regardless of its height, you should put the drive
in a TP600 drive tray, which you can get from Bill Morrow at
www.thinkpads.com. The same tray works for any height drive.
You can put a bare drive in the HDD adapter, but it will be a loose fit.
With the drive mounted in the tray, you get a nice snug fit in the HDD
adapter. (And no, the HDD adapter does not come with one of these mounting
trays.)
