Running Windows 2000 SP2 on a 760XD at latest bios level (60).
a) Selectadock Power Management
Attached to Selectadock III
Also attached to this selctadock are HDD, USB, PCcards
However if I try to suspend the machine, it thinks for a while, starts to
suspend devices (ie an ADSL USB modem) then stops with a tah-dah high/low
beep & instead goes into an intermediate power saving level between full-on
& proper standby (probably what used to be called standby rather than
suspend).
But the selectadock is still powered on, fans spinning etc.
Disconnecting all pccards, extra HDDs, usb
devices & restarting gives the SAME BEHAVIOUR.
The thinkpad utilities have been set to "allow suspend when docked".
I have also tried stopping as many devices/services as possible with the
same results.
I have also re-initialized the bios.
I *think* I went through this before on W98...
How can I make the selectadock/760xd suspend? What can I check?
Is the fan in the selectadock thermal-sensitive. Just a bit noisy to be on
the whole time ....!
b) Video card in Selectadock.
Tried inserting a S3 Virge DX card in the PCI bay (was spare... is it any
better than the built in?)
Was unable to get card configured - constant code 10. MS KB seemed to hint
that this was due to the bios not assigning IRQ for the card? ANy ideas (it
did come up in VGA mode)., The 760 doesn't seem to have any bios options
relating to this.
(NB card was removed during power tests)
Thanks
