Hello Thinkpad:
I recently found this list while shopping for my first laptop and have been
perusing the archives for info. Finding this list is one of the factors that
made me decide to get a thinkpad! :) I ordered an A21m from the imb.auctions
store on eBay tonight. The model I am getting (2628F2U) only has 64mb of
ram, so I am getting a 256mb stick from crucial.com to boost the ram. I had
a couple questions I am hoping the knowledgeable folks on the list will
assist me with:
1- I am planning to fdisk/partition the 20gig HD into C:\5gig for OS&Apps
and D:\~14gig for random storage. Is this going to be a simple as it is with
a desktop? or do laptops present other *issues* I should take into
consideration when it comes to partitioning/reinstalling OS/etc. ?? I've
built and configured my share of desktops, but this will be my first time
working with a laptop. I am assuming it is the same, but we all know what
can happen when we ASSuME!
2- who/where is the best source for a second battery?
3- recommendations on a pcmcia ethernet card brand/model? (primary usage
will be connecting to DSL at home)
any & all advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
