I like to partition drives, too.
Yes, there is an issue. If your new computer has a "bay" which
allows the swapping of a CD-ROM or a floppy or a DVD or a
second battery or a second hard drive, the insertion of a
second hard drive can mess up the lettering of the second and
subsequent partitions on the first hard drive. And it could
also influence the lettering of your CD devices.

In many versions of Windows you can give your CD devices
permanent letters. I find it convenient to call a CD drive V:
and a CD-R or CD-RW drive W:. W for Write. V for hmm, I don't
remember. Anyway, it made sense at the time.

However, I do not believe that it is so easy to deal with the
relettering of drives due to removeable HD devices. I vaguely
remember something about the removeable device should only have
extended partitions (????) or something like that, then the
other logical drives on the original HD may not be relettered,
but I have never done it. Help? Help!
