i would have normally said it would not be worth the headache or expense
when so many better thinkpads are available at so low a cost, but the quote
from another 390 user will make me re-think that rather ancient position..
at least where the 390X is concerned..
the jump in the FSB speed surprises me..
i wonder if the rest of the hardware associated with buss speed is up to the
task of a 33mhz jump in speed..
Cordially, :-)

Subject: Upgrading CPU in my Thinkpad - possible?
> I have a Thinkpad 390X 2626-FOU with a 400mhz Celeron processor.

64mb should help a lot. However, I start college in the Fall and I'm going
for Computer Science. I think down the road, as I get more into
programming, I'm going to need a faster CPU. I'd like, if possible, to
upgrade the CPU in my Thinkpad.

Deja from soneone that did it (same laptop too):

390X gets fairly warm on my lap, and the went fan on the side is always
blowing out warm air. I'm afraid adding a faster CPU will cause it to
overheat...
