If I understand your message correctly, neither the original battery in the 600E nor your office mate's battery would charge in the newly purchased 600E. If this is the case, then perhaps the problem is with the power supply or the charging circuitry within the laptop. Both of these should be covered by the 3-year warranty on the 600E. If you placed the battery from the 'new' 600E into your buddy's laptop and it still didn't charge, then it would be a bad battery and you'd need a new one. Check eBay for this perhaps.
