I had been watching these auctions for the past few weeks myself, but could
never seem to catch them in stock. I got in on this deal this morning at
$1699-I was happy and all was well. About an hour later, after the auction
had ended, IBM put up more of the same model for $1499! So I ordered one of
those also, hoping I could find a way to get out of the first purchase. When
I called IBM to verify and make the purchase, I told them the story and they
canceled the first order no problem. Shipping is a bit expensive at $42 UPS
Ground or $50 FedEx 2-day, and they do charge sales tax no matter where you
live. But for a total of $1657 this is a deal.
My sister and another friend bought this same model last fall for over
$4300-but I have been on that same end also with the purchase of the first
770ED model a few years ago at $5700.
