License and registration for the memory? I've come to the conclusion that
this is a speed problem on the 600 with PC100 memory, or at least that's my
explanation du jour. ;-)
I can even tell you exactly what's being reported:
BOOT: 228,800KB
BIOS INSTALLED: 294,912KB
BIOS USABLE: 228,800KB
W2K: 228,720KB
so this is a readily reproducible problem.
Both my 600s (2645-850 and 2645-51U) balk at seeing more than 228MB of
memory with 2 X 128MB PC100 memory installed. However, they're both happy as
clams at high tide with 2 X 128MB PC66 memory and max out at 288MB
(294,912KB installed).
My 600E (2645-4AU) and 600X (2645-9FU) have no diffculty whatever with the
same memory.
