Thanks for your reply.

I see I said I use Fn+F4 to blank the display - I should have said
Fn+F3!

I have it set for internal LCD. I have tried it on all 3 settings -
internal, external and both. Only the internal LCD shows this problem
and it happens when set to internal LCD only and both internal and
external. External monitor works fine.

How easy is it to change the inverter card?

I've got the hardware maintenance manual supplement and the LCD FRU
Parts List. Do I need anything else?
