John, if you would like to get a _factory_ refurbished (really, really by
IBM) 600e with a recovery CD, floppy drive, and CD-ROM (not a DVD) look at
this Ubid auction:

http://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp?AuctionId=6676943

I got one two weeks ago for $500, which may be a bit high, but it had all
the aforementioned and a good (but used) battery and I am very well pleased
with it. It looks pretty nearly brand new and has a 90 day IBM warranty
that may actually be good until 9/2002 if they honor the warranty shown on
the warranty lookup on the IBM site.

Then I got a 128 MB RAM module from Crucial for $40, and their free 2 day
shipping got here in one day, so I am one happy camper.

jim
