What OS are you running? That's what determines the answer to most of these
questions.
I've moved Windows 2000 from a 600E to an A20p with no problems at all. The
600X is very nearly the same hardware as the A20p/A21p, with the exception
of the video chip, so I'd expect you'd have a very smooth transition with
Windows 2000.
Go to IBM's website and get all the drivers for the 600X before you move the
drive, and run all the .EXEs so they expand out into the C:\DRIVERS
directory. (Rename the old version of this directory out of the way first.)
Then you'll be ready to install the new drivers the 600X requires.
What you really ought to do is get a Second Hard Drive Adapter and use Ghost
or any equivalent program to clone your existing drive onto the drive that
comes with the 600X. Then you'll have a full backup in case anything goes
wrong.
