All you need to do is put everything in the /bin directory to a
temp directory on the HDD but you still will need the floppies to boot up.
The other option is to burn the ISO's to CD and to boot up from CD and do
the installs from that instead. I normally only download the floppies and
then just let the floppies ftp over the internet during installation.
What kind of CPU does the 701C have? I have the 770Z with the PII 366 and
512MB of ram and I'm thinking about running FreeBSD on it but I sure
wished there was more CPU power. I've been running FreeBSD since 1993
before 1.0-RELEASE has been out and it is more solid and better as a
server than Linux is. Linux is more of a unix-like clone while FreeBSD is
the BSD standard of Unix where TCP/IP networking in Unix all came from.
