is a useful freeware program which allows you to manage all
programs which begin at bootup.
There is also a page (sorry, don't have it at hand) which lists
all of the programs which often get loaded automatically, and
judges whether they are needed or not, or your choice. With
some of these programs, your hardware won't work if they don't
load! However, you'll find that many of the programs are not
needed for one reason or another.
PC Mag also published Startup Cop II, but you now have to go
through a registration process to download PC Mag's free
utilities.
