I hear the don't like to replace parts like this -- but I recently sent in an
TP600 with a cracked case. It was split from the front right up to the mouse
buttons, and a second one near a speaker. They replaced it with no questions.

But, what I did was sent a letter with it explaining that the cracks were
where my hands rest. With a few details, like the one near the speaker is
where the heal of one hand rests, and the big one followed where my thumb
rests. The tech, didn't have any questions.

They also throw in a new screen, cable, inverter, a new motherboard, and
speakers. But I included statements about some intermittent problems -- and
the testing and things I had tried, like taking the screen apart to look for a
loose connection. -- Its all in how you document it.

Maybe I should have said something about the lettering being worn off the part
of the Cont and Alt keys <grin>.
