I would **guess** that holding in the modules with pressure from the closed
door could, over time, warp either the door or the socket holding the
modules.

If there is room on the modules could you use a moto-tool (or regular file)
to grind off the oversized portion of the printed circuit board portion of
the modules? This would require great care with regard to anti-static
considerations. Only worth thinking about as an alternative to discarding
the modules.

I've done stranger mods.
