Brapppp!!!
wrong..! :-)
from the symptoms, this is a classic case of the recovery not completing..
the usual cause is rebooting to the HDD rather than the CD on the first
reboot..
the software selections CD is pretty much useless for current drivers..
only a few utilities and small apps.. depending on which thinkpad..
sorry, pete..
i don't mean to be mean.. :-)
(and i SURE hope i'm correct in my educated guess!)

I had the exact same problem with my T21, according to the support bod I
talked to, you also need the "software selections" cd which has all the
drivers etc. I found this particularly annoying as I had been charged £26
for a "recovery" CD which turns out to be simply a copy of Win2000(in my
case) assuming that it would recover my laptop to the factory install, which
clearly isn't the case!

Subject: T22 RECOVERY -- NOT!!
After all the problems that I have reported here, I did a complete wipe of
the hard drive and used the recovery CD ROM.
Now all I have is Win2k at 640 x 480 16 colors. None of the IBM software
was installed.
According to the support tech, I should not have removed the CD before
rebooting which the instructions on the screen told me to do.
He also said that since the NIC card in the computer was added after
shipping, I should remove it because the recovery would fail when it saw it.
This does not seem logical to me (no I am not a Vulcan).
I am open to suggestions on what to do next, other than wait until the next
support shift starts in the morning.
Warm regards
Lou
