FWIW, i have orinoco (whish is a spin off or still part of, Lucent, which
was Bell Labs) and an SMC (since at that time the antenna was the same
thickness as the card and allowed for another PCMCIA card in the slot
above..
the orinoco seems the best though the SMC works as well..
also, the orinoco has an external antenna "jack" on the end, for their
external antenna connection..

AND, further FWIW, the orinoco AP (the lowest cost one) uses a PCMCIA card
inside so one can open the encloseure and add the external antenna for more
range..

i got all these parts but never had time to make the lash up work..
the AP seems reluctant to work and the SMC barricade just came up and worked
without a hitch..
