<<I have a headphone and Andre mic booster that I thought used to work with
my
600E. I have W2K. Now, when i plug it into my thinkpad, the system shuts off
completely. I cannot even turn on the system with the headphone and mic
booster plugged in. Even if I get it to turn on the bios reports error
00178. When I run a test of the devices, everything is ok. I have to unplug
the headphone and the mic booster to get the system to come up. I am totally
puzzled. I have found out that just plugging in the headphone does not
present this behavior. But, with the mic booster the behavior is same in a
different 600E. Is something up with the mic booster. Any help will be
appreciated. Thanks. Trey>>
Your problem is that the mic booster is putting to much power through the
thinkpads sound card, or it is taking too much power from the power adapter.
Likely if this is the problem repeatedly trying this might damage the sound
card.
