It takes a bit of getting used to, but I LIKE multiple
partitions. It can also bring certain efficiencies. For
example, backups might be simpler if you have all your data on
a particular partition. Microsoft does not make this easy, as
many programs have settings files (which are a kind of data!)
which can't be moved from the installed directories. Anyway,
don't dismiss multiple partitions!
Oh yes, changeable CD drive designators. When the OS allows
it, I name every CD-ROM or DVD drive as drive V: and every
writeable CD-R/W or CD-R as drive W:. Easy to remember, and
never interferes with other devices!
