One other 'fluff' thing you can turn off is the preview capability of
Windows Explorer. You know, when you click on a file (like a graphic)
on the right pane and Explorer generates a thumbnail representation in
the middle area. That tends to waste a bit of time while reading the
file in. I can't give you exact directions on how to disable this, but
I assume it is under 'Tools... Folder Options'.
