The "shock absorber" consists of a small "bubble" on the bottom of the T30..
it prevents a user from dropping the T30 onto a hard desktop while the HDD
is running and this the possibility of a head crash while running..

this T30 has a toshiba 5400 rpm 40gig drive in it..

the drive bay is large enough to accept the IBM 60gig travelstar BUT there
are tiny plastic "nubs" extending into the drive bay which, unless cut off,
will prevent a 12,5mm drive from being inserted into the drive bay..!
