In the useful IBM pdf catalog of facts about TPs, mentioned earlier on this
list, I discovered for the first time that the RAM limit for the 380Z is not
96MB, as I thought from earlier literature and reached by addition.
Instead, the page on the TP380Z reports, use of a "proven" vendor allows
addition of 128 MB to the built-in 32 RAM, making the new total 160MB. The
URL given for such vendors is no longer active. But a search turns up
several retailers that sell a piece made by Simple Tech in the $290 to $340
range--a bit much for me. But what does the IBM spec sheet mean by "JEDEC"
when it describes the memory as "JEDEC 144pin EDO SO DIMM"? I understand
all but the "JEDEC" part, which I couldn't locate on the Webopedia computer
dictionary.
