OK, I have a T20 upgraded to one gig P3, and a A20P. Both exhibit the same
exact symptons as follows:
When running driving games (Need for speed, Viper Racing, Test Drive 5 etc),
they start off fine, even at 1024. After a few seconds, the frame rates
slows down to nothing, literally not moving at all, although the game keeps
running. After a few seconds, it cranks up again, after a while it slows to
a stop again.
I have disabled EVERYTHING: Speedstep, timers, turned off CPU power
management and PCI Bus power management, no change at all.
The two machines have difrerent video cards (the A is a 16 meg ATI), so I
don't think the video is the issue. I have also enabled Presentation mode. I
can't think of anything else - anyone got any ideas what the problem could
be - running Win98SE factory install on both, with latest video drivers.
