ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pcicrse/psref/twbook.pdf and then "read between the lines".
512KB of cache means an MMC1. 256KB of cache means an MMC2.

The 770Z is built on an MMC2 module with 256KB of cache running at full speed.
The 770X is built on an MMC1 module with 512KB of cache running at half speed.
