On Win98SE and W2k, I use 6 to 7 partitions depending on size of hard
drive.
I use fat 32 on all. I do vary the cluster size to suit.
I use ConfigSafe prior to each program install.
I have ConfigSafe take a snapshot daily.
I also clone the hard disc bimonthly.
I never update OS or drivers unless I really need to.
If it ain't broke, Don't fix it.
Any new program install must run for at least two weeks without
problems.
Then I will clone to my cloned hdd.
If I have a problem with the newly installed program, I always have the
cloned drive to insert into the hard disc bay.
You can say that the expense of another hard disc, Ghost,
and an hard disc adapter,is to much.
But it takes me at least 3 days to rebuild a new hard disc with all of
the programs and data.
At $100.hr thats $2400.00
Cloning time runs 15 to 22 min.
I do have peace of mind.
