That might be true if the SMART status actually
indicated anything useful! They probably just ignore
it since it's worthless. I've checked the SMART status
on known bad drives and it doesn't show any problem!
Besides, for the SMART status to indicate anything it
has to already have been run in DOS, Windows or
whatever in order to check the drive and set the
status bits, hard to do beforehand if you're in the
BIOS. Kind of like putting the cart before the horse.
